The City Council of San Gimignano has held a design competition on the restoration of the Santa Fina heritage complex, a former medieval hospital that underwent many alterations over the centuries. The project’s aim is the renovation of the present medical centre as well as the addition of a new building to better meet the space needs of the facility.
Our project has been developed analytically: demolition of the non congruous alterations, restoration of the internal courtyard system, connection between the courtyards and from them to the external space, identification of functional macro-areas in the existing portion, construction - along the visual axis towards the San Gimignano towers - of the new volume as well as other external courtyards.
